What to Expect

You will meet new people who understand what you have been experiencing. This shared understanding helps you understand your own behaviour and helps you create a path forward. Group counselling usually involves talking about experiences and consequences and practicing new skills to form healthier habits.

Getting Started with Group Counselling

Before working with a Counsellor or Psychologist, it’s best to have some idea of what it is that is bothering you in life. This might not be a clear goal but it could be a sense of frustration, feeling a lack of enjoyment, or not finding the success you would like to have in life. From that you can work to develop a clear goal and plan forward.

When Group Counselling Works Best

Group practice during sessions and individual practice between sessions of skills and thinking patterns can lead to a happier life. It is important to participate without critical self-judgment or judgment of others in the group. For some individuals, personal counselling may be a better place to start.

Sessions typically last around 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Typically between 6 to 12 sessions.
